1. I got on the Earthwing skateboards team this weekend. This is sort of hilariously ironic, as all my skate friends in high school wanted nothing more than to be sponsored while I didn't give a shit.
2. Smoking pot makes everything exciting the day of and dull the day after.
3. My photo teacher really likes my work. He has stuff in MoMA; so I'm psyched for real.
4. I love that my friends send me postcards and need to start doing that myself. |

I talked to my mom on the phone the other day. I mentioned that I had gotten tested again for HIV and that "well, it came back negative I 'm not gonna die of AIDS." There was a brief silence, followed by "Good, but you never know: you could be killed instantly by a meteor falling on your head at any moment."
I love my family. |

| Not Dying. |
[Jan. 28th, 2008|12:33 pm] |
I am something of a hypochondriac. The internet exacerbates this problem terribly.
Every few months I get a cold, get on the internet, and convince myself that despite having essentially no risk factors, I have acute HIV and am going to die of AIDS by the time I hit 35. I spend the next few days mentally rehearsing how I'll tell my parents, friends, and healthcare providers. Then I get tested and it comes back negative due to the aforementioned total lack of risk factors. It's completely ridiculous. |

Poetry. Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Bad grammar. Ugly shoes. Express. Express Men. Gay people who say "fag" as an insult. College literary magazines. American chocolate bars. Douchebag Europeans who assume every American is a Republican. Hillary Clinton. Barack Obama. The "faith community." The idea that facebook groups are political activism. Whiny hipster music. Substandard breakfast cereals. The concept of paying for condiments. |

-Skateboarded from Columbia to Wall street (7.9 miles) in traffic yesterday. I almost got hit by several cabs and rear-ended a PT cruiser in Times Square. It was awesome. Now my right calf hates me. Check me out: http://gothamist.com/2007/10/29/skating_from.php
-Sox PWNED the Rockies. Yeah Boston.
-Barack Obama can suck my balls for a number of different reasons. Hillary too. Edwards/Dodd 08: Real Leadership for America. |

-All As last semester. I'm fairly certain this is the first time I've ever done that.
-Skateboarding rules. Last night I was bombing down a hill near campus at around 30-35 and I passed a woman who was walking up. She saw me, stopped in her tracks, and gave me the best "wtf?" look of all time.
-Also, if you're driving down a hill and you come upon someone skateboarding at speed in the middle of your lane, slow down and give them some space. They can't hear you or see you; and they can fall or be thrown from the board at any moment. You don't want to run them over, right? Yesterday I was going down a different hill, again at speed. I was approaching a steep descent and stood up to brake. I looked around to find a sedan 10ft behind me. That was fucking scary.
-I'm supposed to go out to San Diego in a couple weeks. I hope the massive flames engulfing the city won't interfere with my skateboard contest. |

- It's been hot as balls. It should not be 88 degrees and humid at 8:30pm in October in New York. - I fell off my skateboard at 25mph sunday. I fucked up my thumb, scraped myself in a few places, and my neck hurts; but it was worth it. - This is the first year where I'm not taking 3 serious academic classes. I'm kinda liking film photography and Buddhism and I'm really liking the whole "no conference papers for fall semester" thing. - My life is absurd. I'm going home this weekend and one of the main thoughts in my head is "goddamn I'm psyched to smoke with my family." - I rule at procrastinating. Today I did all my laundry (even towels and sheets!), swept the floor, took out my trash, and updated my livejournal. Now I'm going to go write a book review. |

+Got an article and a photo published in a sorta-major magazine. If you're in Barnes and Noble, find a copy of Concrete Wave and flip to page 33. My article is "Speed and Danger in New York City." Alternately, it's here: http://www.concretewavemagazine.com/article_V06N02_noteworthy.pdf (it's a .pdf; so look out) -The editor got my name wrong. +The editor accidentally gave me my new pen name: M. Wells. +Drove an hour and a half upstate to court to contest my speeding ticket (71 in a 55). The cop didn't show; so my driving record is clean and I didn't have to pay a $200 fine. -I had to get up at 0600 to do so. +Payday soon. +4 day weekend every weekend. +Turned 21. -Everyone expects me to drink now, which is silly. -No present for Turner or Allon yet. +Threw some D's on that bitch. -I have herpes +Just kidding! -Sugar free red bull is actually super gross. +My new style: CMYK. I only wear printer-ink colors (Cyan, Yellow, Magenta, and blacK [white and gray too, but I'm cheating]). -Unable to find magenta belts and socks. +/-My room is entirely lit by fluorescent lights. It's cold and soul-crushing; but in an awesome way. +The word "steezy." +Standing under Rihanna's umbrella. ella. ella. ella. eh. eh. eh. |

Holy shit. I got into all the classes I wanted to get into. This is kind of a big deal, as I signed up for two very popular classes and have gotten bumped every year in the past. |
